Dear all,

1) We have been asked to pass this message on to you from one of the councillors who is not aligned to the “Power bloc”.

“The first meeting of the combined planning committee will take place at 9am in Room 5 of the Bicentennial Building, (old library) at Nerang Council offices on Tuesday 20th April.

“Concerned citizens who are not working at that time of the morning, are asked to attend.  Bring any friends, relatives, neighbours, community groups, etc to this meeting to protest about some deceitful Councillors and the undemocratic principles orchestrated by them.

“A silent vigil will be held whilst the meeting progresses as citizens are not allowed to speak at these meetings.  The media will be there and hopefully will record the event for the rest of the Gold Coast to see.

“We must stand up and be counted and fight for democracy.”

2) Some of you have misunderstood the emails about the 7 storey plans from Australand. The company does not intend to build only 7 storeys; it still intends to build 15 storeys. So the court action is still proceeding.

3) Many of you have complained about what Greg Bretts said at our last public meeting when he said he was not aligned to any party or group and then after the election, according to the press, he admitted to being part of the “Power bloc”. Please don’t send your complaints to us.

If you do feel that you have been deceived by what Greg said before the election and in his printed material about being independent, not being aligned with any group and not receiving funding from developers, send your complaints to the Minister for Local Government (lgp@ministerial.qld.gov.au ), to the CMC (http://www.cmc.qld.gov.au/MAKINGACOMPLAINT.html)  and to the Mayor (mayor@goldcoast.qld.gov.au ).

We repeat, please don’t send your complaints to us.
